From concept to final form, the Susan Castor Collection Beach House has been a collaboration of professionals, each with years of experience. The weekly meetings between builder, architect and designer have resulted in a superior home on the Texas Gulf Coast. As professionals aware of our carbon footprint, it was important for us to build a house that fit our everyday lifestyles in a way that is healthy for nature.
Our hope is that the Beach House will be practical, casual and comfortable for multi-generations to enjoy together or separately. The house has been designed to maximize the views and to allow the enjoyment of the exterior decks somewhat protected from the southeast breezes. The house featurestwo master bedrooms, mini-kitchens on each floor, sleeps eighteen comfortably, and has banquet dining for 14-16. State of the art sustainable technology has been provided in home automation, HVAC systems, water systems, plumbing, lighting and Energy Star rated appliances. All exterior materials and finishes have been chosen to minimize chemical invasions and promote good air quality. The finishes are durable, practical and require very little maintenance. The majority of the countertops are a new recycled glass product called “Ice Stone” (by DalTile). Many of the furniture items have been made with recycled materials. The area rugs are natural fibers. The builder has recycled as many left over building materials as possible.
While the eco-conscious elements were a primary concern during building, The home’s casual and sophisticated coastal styling was also paramount. The Susan Castor Collection team of designers has endeavored to create an interior environment that flows from room to room while allowing the designer some freedom of expression in each space. We hope you will enjoy your experience as you tour our Beach House.
